6. Mondai

To do the “Mondai” section, you need “minna no nihongo” book and audios for listening

Exercise 1: Listen and answer questions

With this exercise, first you need to listen to the question and write down what you have listened and then answer the question according to your own understanding. You should not try to focus on clearly listening to each word of a sentence then missing the following sentences. You should listen it for the first time, answer the questions one by one, with the questions you can’t listen then listening to them the second time. After that, you can listen again and copy the words to improve your listening skill and remember words better. Finally, after listening and answering all questions, you can refer to the translation and the answer below.

Translation :

1.  今財布にいくらお金が入っていますか。
Ima saifu ni ikura okane ga haitte i masu ka.
How much money is in your wallet now?

2. 今着ている服にポケットがついていますか。
ima ki te iru fuku ni poketto ga tsui te i masu ka.
Does your current cloth have pockets?

3. 土曜日銀行は開いていますか。
doyoubi ginkou ha hirai te i masu ka.
Is the bank open on Saturday?

4. 日曜日デパートは込んでいますか。
nichiyoubi depa-to ha kon de i masu ka.
Are the department store busy on Sunday?

5. 電車に忘れ物をしてしまったら、どうしますか。
densha ni wasuremono wo shi te shimattara, dou shi masu ka.
What should I do when I forget something on the train?

Answer :

1. 2万円ぐらい 入っています。
2 man en gurai haitte imasu
About 20,000 yen is in my wallet.

2. いいえ、つけて いません。
iie, tsukete imasen.
No, it doesn’t have any pocket.

3. いいえ、閉まって います。
iie, shimatte imasu.
No, it’s closed.

4. はい、込んで いると 思います。
Hai, konde iru to omoimasu
Yes, I think it is busy.

Exercise 2: Listen and choose true or false

With this exercise, the listeners will listen to the conversation, then there will be a key point about the problem that will be raised in the conversation. The listeners must choose whether the content is true or false according to what they has listened. If it is true, select 〇 (maru) and if it is false, choose ✖ (batsu). In this listening section, you should pay attention to the concluding sentence to see whether that sentence is given in a positive or negative form in order to avoid being “tricked” when listening.

Exercise 3: Complete the sentence with the information in the picture

This exercise is similar to the renshuu section, you need to review the grammars as well as the vocabulary in order to complete the sentence correctly with the information given in the picture.

Example:

ボタンが 外れて います。
The button is uncurled.

Exercise 4: Fill in the blank

Before doing this exercise, you need to review carefully the vocabulary you have learned in the lesson so that you can understand the general content and can choose the right word to fill in the blank. In addition, you should also note grammar structures to be able to give the correct form of the word.

Example :

エアコンが ( ついて )いますから、すずしいです。
The air conditioner is on, so it’s cool.

Answer :

1. 道が (__)いましたから、おくれました。

Answer and translation
道が (込んで)いましたから、おくれました。I was late because the road was crowded.

2. このコートは ポケットが(__) いませんから、ふべんです。

Answer and translation
このコートは ポケットが(ついて) いませんから、ふべんです。This coat has no pocket, so it’s inconvenient.

Translation and Answer

Earthquake

There was an earthquake at 5:46 in Kobe this morning. I’m standing in front of Sanomiya Station now. The building of the station was destroyed. The wall clock is stopped. The clock hand is pointing at 5:46. That is the time when the earthquake happened. The train is also not working.

The old buildings on the wide road in front of the station also collapsed. The houses that did not collapse, their glass doors were broken. If you look inside, you can see a lot of broken things. Because it is very dangerous, it is impossible to enter there.

In the west of the station, there is a house that is burned down.
