6. Mondai

To do the “Mondai” section, you need “minna no nihongo” book and audios for listening

Exercise 1: Listen and answer questions

With this exercise, first you need to listen to the question and write down what you have listened and then answer the question according to your own understanding. You should not try to focus on clearly listening to each word of a sentence then missing the following sentences. You should listen it for the first time, answer the questions one by one, with the questions you can’t listen then listening to them the second time. After that, you can listen again and copy the words to improve your listening skill and remember words better. Finally, after listening and answering all questions, you can refer to the translation and the answer below.

Translation :

1.  ピアノを弾きながら歌えますか。
piano o hiki nagara utae masu ka.
Can you sing while playing piano?

2. 暇なときは、いつも何をしていますか。
hima na toki ha, itsumo nani wo shi te imasu ka.
What do you often do in your free time?

3. 子どもの時、毎日学校が終わってから、何をしていましたか。
kodomo no toki, mainichi gakkou ga owatte kara, nani o shi te i mashi ta ka.
What did you often do after studying at school everyday when you were a child?

4. 東京は人も多いし、いろいろな店もあるし、にぎやかです。あなたが住んでいる町はどうですか。
toukyou ha hito mo ooi shi, iroiro na mise mo aru shi, nigiyaka desu. anata ga sun de iru machi ha dou desu ka.
In Tokyo, there are many people and many shops, so it is very busy. What about the city where you live?

2. 本を 読んだり、ピアノを 弾いたり して います。

4. 私の町は 小さいし、人も 少ないし、静かです。
Watashi no machi ha chiisaishi, hitomo sukunaishi, shizuka desu.
My city is small and there are also a few people there, so it’s quite quiet.

Exercise 2: Listen and choose true or false

With this exercise, the listeners will listen to the conversation, then there will be a key point about the problem that will be raised in the conversation. The listeners must choose whether the content is true or false according to what they has listened. If it is true, select 〇 (maru) and if it is false, choose ✖ (batsu). In this listening section, you should pay attention to the concluding sentence to see whether that sentence is given in a positive or negative form in order to avoid being “tricked” when listening.

Teacher, how is Taro at school?

男: 太郎くん は 元気だし、親切だし、ともだちは みんな 太郎くんが 好きですよ。

Exercise 3: Complete the sentence with the information in the picture

This exercise is similar to the renshuu section, you need to review the grammars as well as the vocabulary in order to complete the sentence correctly with the information given in the picture.

Example:

アイスクリーム を 食べながら 歩きます。
I walk while eating ice cream.

Exercise 4: Complete the sentence

With this exercise, you need to review all the grammars as well as the vocabulary you have learned in the lesson to understand the general content so that you can choose the correct word then can give the true form of it.

買います 飲みます 食べます 歩きます 行きます 乗ります およぎます ジョギングします

Example :

日曜日は いつも 9時ごろまで (寝ていますが)きょうは 用事が ありましたから、6時に(起きました)
I always sleep until 9 o’clock on Sunday, but I had a business today, so I got up at 6 o’clock.

Explanation: Because it is a regular habit, 寝ます will become 寝ています, the sign is いつも. With the following part of this sentence, because it is the action that happened (in the past), we will use the past form here: 起きます -> 起きました

Answer :

1. 魚は いつも 近くの スーパで(__)が、きのうは 休みでしたから、ほかの 店へ (__)

Answer and translation
魚は いつも 近くの スーパで(買っています)が、きのうは 休みでしたから、ほかの 店へ (行きました)I often buy fish from the supermarket near my house, but it is closed today so I go to another store.

2. いつも えきまで(__)が、けさは 時間が ありませんでしたから、タクシーで(__)

Answer and translation
いつも えきまで(歩いて います)が、けさは 時間が ありませんでしたから、タクシーで(乗りました)I often walk to the station, but I had no time this morning, so I took a taxi.

3. てんきがいい 日 は 毎朝(__)が、雨の 日は プールで(__)

Answer and translation
てんきがいい 日 は 毎朝(ジョギングして います)が、雨の 日は プールで(泳いで います。)In the morning of the nice days, I often go jogging, but on rainy days, I go swimming in the pool.

4. 毎朝 パンを(__)が、けさは コーヒーしか(__)。

Answer and translation
毎朝 パンを(食べて います)が、けさは コーヒーしか(飲みませんでした)。Every morning, I often eat bread, but I only drank coffee this morning.

Exercise 5: Complete the sentence

With this exercise, you just need to apply the grammar structure [し~し~] that you have learned. You should also review the vocabulary to be able to choose the right word.

簡単 広い 軽い 優しい しずか 頭がいい

Example :

あの レストランは (おいしい)し、(やすい)し、それに サービスも いいです
That restaurant is delicious and cheap, and the service is good too.
