Learn minna no nihongo lesson 25

3. Grammar

もし、Vたら、~

Meaning : If ~

Usage : Express the assumption of the cause and the result

Adj い remove い  +  かったら、~
N/Adjな remove な +  だったら、~

Example:

もしお金があったら、日本へ行きます。
Moshi okane ga attara, nihon he ikimasu.
If I have money, I’ll go to Japan.

もし安かったら、買います。
Moshi yasukattara, kaimasu.
If it’s cheap, I’ll buy it.

いい天気だったら、散歩します。
ii tenki dattara, sanpo shimasu.
If the weather is nice, I’ll go for a walk.

Vたら、 ~

Meaning : After~

Usage : Express that an action (goes with たら: Verb in た-form + ら) takes place before another action

Difference between Vてから and Vたら : 
Vてから ~ : Emphasize on the order of actions
Vたら ~ : Emphasize on the second action that will take place after satisfying the previous condition.

Example :

10時になったら、出かけましょう。
Jyuuji ni nattara, dekakemashou.
When it is 10 o’clock, let’s go out.

いくら、Vても

Meaning : Although ~, Even if ~

Usage : Express the contrary view, something can not be changed, no matter what happens

Adjい remove い + くても ~
N/Adjな remove な + でも ~

Example :

いくら雨が降っても、洗濯します。
Ikura ame ga futtemo, sentakushimasu.
Even if it rains, I still wash my clothes.

安くても、買いません。
Yasuku temo, kaimasen.
Even if it’s cheap, I won’t buy it.

4. Kaiwa 

いろいろ お世話に なりました
iroiro osewa ni nari mashi ta

山田 :転勤、おめでとう ございます。
Yamda: tenkin, omedetou gozai masu.

ミラー :ありがとう ございます。
Mira- : arigatou gozai masu.

木村 :ミラーさんが 東京へ 行ったら、寂しく なりますね。
Kimura: mira san ga toukyou he okonattara, sabishiku nari masu ne.

木村 :東京へ 行っても、大阪の ことを 忘れないで くださいね。
Kimura: toukyou he okonatte mo, oosaka no koto o wasure nai de kudasai ne.

ミラー :もちろん。木村さん、暇が あったら、ぜひ 東京へ 遊びに来て ください。
Mira- : mochiron. kimura san, hima ga attara, zehi toukyou he asobi ni ki te kudasai.

サントス :ミラーさんも 大阪へ 来たら、電話を ください。
Santosu: mira san mo oosaka he ki tara, denwa o kudasai.

サントス :一杯 飲みましょう。
Santosu: ichi hai nomi mashou.

ミラー :ええ、ぜひ。
Mira- : ee, zehi.

ミラー :皆さん、ほんとうに いろいろ お世話に なりました。
Mira- : minasan, hontou ni iroiro osewa ni nari mashi ta.

佐藤 :体に 気を つけて、頑張って ください。
Satou: karada ni ki o tsuke te, ganbatte kudasai.

ミラー :はい、頑張ります。皆さんも どうぞ お元気で。
Mira- : hai, ganbari masu. minasan mo douzo o genki de.

Translation:

Thank you very much for everything

Yamada: Congratulations on your transfer.

Miller: Thank you.

Kimura: If Mr. Miller goes to Tokyo, it will be lonely.

Even though you’re going to Tokyo, please don’t forget about Osaka.

Miller: Of course. Mr. Kimura, please come to Tokyo if you have spare time.

Santos: Mr. Miller, after coming to Osaka, please call us.

Santos: Let’s go for a drink.

Miller: Yes, certainly.

Miller: Everyone, thank you very much for everything.

Satou: Please take care of yourself and do your best.

Miller: Yes I will try my best. I hope you all are doing well too.
