3. Grammar
Vて,Vて。。。
Meaning: do something…, do something.
Usage:
The sentences use 「て」 to connect verbs.
Put verbs in the order of the action takes place.
The tense of the sentence depends on the last verb.
Example:
朝、ご飯を食べて、映画を見て、学校へ行きます。
(Asa, gohan o tabete, eiga o mite, gakkou e ikimasu.)
In the morning, I have meal, watch movie and then go to school.
こうべへいって、えいがをみて、おちゃをのみました。
(Koube e itte, eiga o mite, ocha o nomimashita.)
I went to Kobe, watched a movie and then drank tea.
Adj い remove い + くて
Use to connect Adj い with another word or sentence.
When connecting the adj, we have to remove [い] and add [くて]. If the last adj is Adj い, we won’t remove [い].
Example:
おおきいーーー＞おおきくて
ちいさいーーー＞ちいさくて
いいーーーーー＞よくて
ミラーさんはわかくて、げんきです。
Miraa san wa wakakute, genki desu.
Mr. Miller is young and healthy.
このかばんはやすくてきれいです
Kono kaban wa yasukute, kireidesu.
This bag is cheap and beautiful.
Noun/ Adjな remove な＋で
Use to connect Noun / Adj な
With Noun: Not only used to connect sentences that have the same topic, but also used to connect sentences that have different topics.
With Adj: Only use to connect adjectives that have the same tone of meaning.
Example:
奈良は静かで、きれいな町です。
Nara wa shizuka de, kirei na machi desu.
Nara is a quiet and beautiful city.
カリナさんはインドネシアじんで、きょうとだいがくのりゅうがくせいです。
Karina san wa Indoneshia jin de, kyouto daigaku no ryuugakusei desu.
Ms. Karina is Indonesian and foreign student at Kyoto University.
ミラーさんはハンサムで、しんせつです。
Miraa san wa hansamu de, shinsetsu desu.
Mr. Miller is handsome and kind.
Verb 1 in て-form から、Verb 2
Meaning : After doing something, do something
Usage :
The second action is done after the first one finished.
The tense of the sentence depends on the last verb.
Example :
くにへかえってから、ちちのかいしゃではたらきます。
Kuni e kaettekara, chichi no kaisha dewa hatarakimasu.
After going back to my country, I work for my father’s company.
コンサートがおわってから、レストランでしょくじしました。
Konsaato ga owattekara, resutorande shokuji shimashita.
After the concert was over, I had a meal at the restaurant.
N1 は N2 が Adj
Meaning : N2 of N1 is (Adj)
Usage : N1 is the topic of the sentence, the adj complements N2.
Example :
おおさかはたべものがおいしいです。
Oosaka wa tabemono ga oishii desu.
In Osaka, food is very delicous.
ドイツのフランケンはワインがゆうめいです。
Doitsu no furanken wa wain ga yuumei desu.
The wine in Franken in Germany is famous.
マリアさんはかみがながいです。
Mariana san wa kami ga nagai desu.
Maria has a long hair.
どうやって
Meaning : How…
Usage :
Use to ask about how to do or the order of doing something.
How to answer: Use the structure [Vて, Vて。。。] above.
Example :
だいがくまでどうやっていきますか？
Daigaku made doiyatte ikimasuka?
How do you go to the university?
きょうとえきで１６ばんのバスにのって、だいがくまえでおります。
Kyouto eki made 16 ban no busu ni notte, dai gakumade orimasu.
At Kyoto, I get on the bus number 16 and then get off in front of the university.
どの+noun
Meaning : Which, who, what
Usage : Placed before noun to identify an object (thing/person) in a group of 3 or more objects.
Example :
サントスさんはどのひとですか？
Santousu san wa dono hito desuka?
Who is Mr. Santos?
あのせがたかくて、かみがくろいひとです。
Ano segatakakute, kami ga kuroi hito desu.
He is that tall man with black hair.
リンさんはどの人ですか。
Rin san wa dôn hito desuka?
Who is Ms. Linh?
あの白いシャツを着ている人です。
Ano shiro shatsu o kiteiru hito desu.
She is that woman in white shirt.
4. Kaiwa
使い方を教えてください
Tsukaikata o oshietekudasai
マリア: すみませんが、ちょっと使い方を教えてください。
Maria: Sumimasen ga, chotto tsukaikata o oshiete kudasai.
銀行員: お引き出しですか。
Ginkouin: Ohikidashidesuka.
マリア:そうです。
Maria: Soudesu.
銀行員: じゃ、まずここを押してください。
Ginkouin: Ja, mazu koko o oshite kudasai.
マリア: はい。
Maria: Hai.
銀行員: キャッシュカードはありますか。
Ginkouin: Kyasshu kaado wa arimasu ka.
マリア: はい、これです。
Maria: Hai, koredesu.
銀行員: それをここに入れて、暗証番号を押してください。
Ginkouin: Sore o koko ni irete, anshou bangou o oshite kudasai.
マリア: はい。
Maria: Hai.
銀行員: 次に金額を押してください。
Ginkouin: Tsugini kingaku o oshite kudasai.
マリア: 5万円ですが、5･･････。
Maria: Go man yen desuga, go….
銀行員: この「万」「円」を押します。それからこの確認ボタンを押してください。
Ginkouin: Kono “man” “en” o oshimasu. Sorekara kono kakunin botan o oshite kudasai.
マリア: はい、どうもありがとうございました。
Maria: Hai, doumo arigatou gozaimashita.
Translation:
Please teach me how to use it!
Maria: Excuse me, please tell me how to use it.
Bank employee: Are you making a withdrawal?
Maria: Yes.
Bank employee: Well, please press here first.
Maria: Yes.
Bank employee: Do you have a ATM card?
Maria: Yes, I have.
Bank employee: Please put it here and press the PIN code.
Maria: Yes.
Bank employee: Then please press the amount of money.
Maria: It’s 50,000 yen, 5….
Bank employee: Press this「万」「円」.Then please press this confirmation button.
Maria: Yes, thank you very much.
