Meaning and how to use :

Has the meaning “either…or” . That sentence mean “so it results in a negative consequence”.

For examples

弟は勉強じゃなくて、いつもゲームをするか友達と遊びに行くかで、母を心配させました。
Otouto ha benkyou ja naku te, itsumo gēmu o suru ka tomodachi to asobi ni iku ka de, haha o shinpai sase mashi ta.
My brother doesn’t pay attention to studying, he is always either playing game or going out with friends and that makes my mom so worried about him.

あの客は私の家にくると、子供の成績か出世することを顕彰するかでつい家族の雰囲気を悪くしてしまった。
ano kyaku ha watashi no ie ni kuru to, kodomo no seiseki ka shusse suru koto o kenshou suru ka de tsui kazoku no funiki o waruku shi te shimatta.
Whenever that man comes to my house, he shows off either his daughter’s achievement or his promotion, and that make the family atmostphere worse.

新聞によると、日本人はいつも残業するかくたびれるかで外国人が日本にくる率が減るそうだ。
shinbun ni yoru to, nipponjin ha itsumo zangyou suru ka kutabireru ka de gaikoku jin ga nippon ni kuru ritsu ga heru sou da.
According to articles, there are people in Japan either over work or get exhausted when working. Therefore fewer and fewer people go to this country

彼は嘘ばかりを言うか悪口を言うかでだれでも彼と遊ばない。
kare ha uso bakari o iu ka waruguchi o iu ka de dare demo kare to asoba nai.
He’s always either lying or maligning other, so no one makes friend with him.

その日は寒いか雨が降るかで出かけないことにした。
sono hi ha samui ka ame ga furu ka de dekake nai koto ni shi ta.
That day it was raining or cold so I didn’t go out.

Note: Sometimes is used in “か~かしていて” form with same meaning.
