Meaning and how to use :

Expresses the meaning to suggest, invite strongly to do something.

Examples:

一緒に環境を守ろうではないか。
Issho ni kankyou o mamoro u de ha nai ka.
Let’s protect the environment.

地球温暖化を阻止するために行動しようではないか。
Chikyuu ondan ka o soshi suru tame ni koudou shiyo u de ha nai ka.
Let’s act to prevent the global warming.

大学に合格するためにがんばろうじゃないか。
Daigaku ni goukaku suru tame ni ganbaro u ja nai ka.
Let’s try to get into universities.

いい社会を一緒につくろうではないか。
Ii shakai o issho ni tsukurou de ha nai ka.
Together let’s create a nice society.

週末映画に見に行こうじゃないか。
Shuumatsu eiga ni mi ni iko u ja nai ka.
Let’s go watch a movie together this weekend.

This is a modern, polite way of saying that is often used by men.
