Meaning and how to use :

Usage 1
Describe something that you don’t know about it well.

Example:

彼にプレゼントするものは何かがいいか。
Kare ni purezento suru mono ha naika ga ii ka.
What type of present should I give him?

この機械の部分は何か壊したようだ。
Kono kikai no bubun ha nanika kowashita you da.
Some parts of this machine seems to be broken.

何か間違ったようだ。
nanika machigatta you da.
Seems like something went wrong.

Usage 2
Describe the meaning “don’t know why”, “don’t know what”.

Example:

あの人は田中さんに何か言っていました。
Ano hito ha Tanaka san ni nani ka itteimashita.
That person said something to Mr. Tanaka.

彼女は何かうれしそうになる。
Kanojo ha nanika ureshisou ni naru.
She looks happy about something.

何かげらげらしたい。
Nanika geragera shitai.
Somehow I want to laugh.

Note: This is the simple way of saying「なにか」 , use in speaking.
