Meaning and how to use :

Expresses the meaning “make N the topic”. The second part of the sentence expresses “strange attitude or behavior”. It’s usually understood: “Whenever N becomes the topic”.
For example:

宇宙となればよく分からないね。
uchuu to nare ba yoku wakara nai ne
About the universe, I don’t understand much.

迷信のこととなれば、田中さんがとても気に入るよ。
meishin no koto to nare ba tanaka san ga totemo kiniiru yo
Concerning the superstition, Tanaka is really interested.

kagaku to nare ba ore ha iroiro na chishiki ga ari masu yo

kompyuta to nare ba nakamura buchou ha masuta desu yo
Talk about computer, manager Nakamura is a master.

kono kurasu de ha rekishi to nare ba nohara san yori wakaru hito ga i nai yo
In the class about history, no one is more knowledgeable than Nakamura.
