Meaning and how to use :

Expresses the meaning “Event/ thing that’s stated in the first part is different from one in the second part of the sentence”. Used when we want to compare 2 things having different nature.
For example

元気な弟とがって、私はとても弱くて、入院してばかりいます。
genki na otouto togatu te watakushi ha totemo yowaku te nyuuin shi te bakari i masu
Unlike my healthy younger brother, I’m sickly and usually hospitalized.

成績がいい田中さんとちがって、中村さんはいつも悪い点をとっています。
seiseki ga ii tanaka n to chigatu te nakamura san ha itsumo warui ten wo totu te i masu
Tanaka has good score, but unlike him, Nakamura always gets bad marks.

我慢強い僕とちがって、妹はとてもせっかちだ。

Unlike me being patient, my sister is hot headed.

お金持ちの高橋さんとちがって、山田さんは貧乏な人です。
