Meaning and how to use :

This structure is used to give conclusions to the events mentioned in the previous sentence. This event is the cause, reason or basis to draw conclusions. The following sentences are all types of sentences.

Examples:

1. 今日電車が遅れました。だから、私が会議に間に合いません。
Kyou densha ga okuremashita. Dakara, watashi ga kaigi ni maniaimasen.
Today the train is late. That’s why I can’t make it to the meeting.

2. 外は寒そうだよ。だから、コートを着て出かけました。
Soto wa samu souda yo. Dakara, kouto wo kite dekakemashita.
It looks cold outside. Because of this I wore my coat and went out.

3. あの人は私に何も伝えなかった。だから、今日の会議のことが何も知らない。
Ano hito wa watashi ni nani mo tsutaenakatta. Dakara, kyou no kaigi no koto ga nani mo shiranai.
He didn’t tell me anything. That’s why I don’t know anything about today’s meeting.

4. 日本に行ったことがない。だから、日本についてよく分からない。
Nihon ni itta koto ga nai. Dakara, Nihon ni tsuite yokuwakaranai.
I have never gone to Japan. That’s why I don’t know much about Japan.

5. 何も勉強しなかった。だから、入学試験を落ちました。
Nani mo benkyou shinakatta. Dakara, nyuugaku shiken wo ochimashita.
I didn’t study anything. Because of this, I failed the entrance exam.
