Expressing  that there is nothing or anyone other than the thing mentioned.

Examples:

あの人はただアマチュアなカメラマンですが大きい会社に雇われた。
ano hito ha tada amachua na kameraman desu ga ohkii gaisha ni yatowa re ta
He was just an amateur photographer, but he was hired by a big company.

今私はただ500円だけがあります。
ima watakushi ha tada go rei rei en dake ga ari masu
Now I only have 500 yen.

ただ君が私のそばにいるだけでいいです。
tada kimi ga watakushi no soba ni iru dake de ii desu
I just want you to be with me.

俺はただ平凡な人でから、偉いことができない。
ore ha tada heibon na hito de kara erai koto ga deki nai
I’m just a normal person so I can’t do great things.

部屋の中でただベッドだけあります。
heya no juu de tada beddo dake ari masu
There is only one bed in the room.

Note: This structure is often used with「だけ」、「のみ」 has the same meaning with「それだけ」.
