あえて+V ない

Meaning and how to use:

Expressing the meaning “not intending or should not do it because if you do it, you will be opposed or given an aversion”.
Often translated as “not intentionally … / not necessarily…”.

Examples:

彼が本当に嫌いですが、あえて彼の会社を破壊しないまでだ。
Kare ga hontouni kiraidesuga, aete kare no kaisha o hakai shinai madeda.
I really dislike him, but I do not intend to destroy his company.

あえて君と田中さんがデートすることに反対しないが、結婚することが認めない。
Aete kimi to Tanaka-san ga deito suru koto ni hantai shinaiga, kekkon suru koto ga mitomenai.
I do not protest you and Mr. Tanaka dating but I do not accept your marriage.

ときどき高橋さんとけんかするが、あえて彼女をいじめないだ。
Tokidoki takahashi san to kenka suruga, aete kanojo wo ijimenaida.
Sometimes I quarrel with Takahashi, but I don’t bully her.

本当にお金がないが、あえて他の人に奪わないだ。
Hontouni okaneganai ga, aete hokanohito ni ubawanaida.
It is true that I do not have money but I don’t have to rob others.

おなかがペコペコしているが、あえて君の分まで食べないよ。
Onaka ga pekopeko shite iruga, aete kimi no bun made tabenai yo.
I’m very hungry, but I don’t necessarily eat your part anymore.

Note: this structure could stand before 「する必要もない」、「することもない」、「しようとは思わない」
