JLPT N4 Grammar lesson 2. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N4 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Grammar structure number 6 :

~Vるようになる

Formation :

Vるようになる

Explanation :

begin, will, now I can… ~
to express the beginning of a new action, express the changes comparing to the previous action

Example and meaning :

1.今(いま)は外国語(がいこくご)で歌(う)たえるようになる。
I can now sing in foreign language.

2.窓(まど)を開(ひら)いて、外(そと)の音(おと)が聞(き)こえるようになる。
After opening the windows, I begin to hear the outside sounds.

Grammar structure number 7 :

~Vれる passive

Formation :

V ない (remove ない)+れる

Explanation :

am/is/are, was/were..

has an action done to by someone or something else.

Example and meaning :

1.一生懸命(いっしょうけんめい)に勉強(べんきょ)うして、母(は)はに褒(ほ)められた。
Due to having studied hard, I was praised by my mother.

2.外(そと)の音(おと)に困(こま)られる。
I am annoyed by the outside noises.

Grammar structure number 8 :

~かどうか~

Formation :

V(short form) + かどうか
N+ かどうか
Aい+ かどうか
Aな( removeな)+ かどうか

Explanation :

…or not
used when wanting to make a interrogative sentence without using the questioning form.

Example and meaning :

1.その本読だかどうかわからない。
I don’t know if I have read that book or not.

2.あのひとと会うかどうかわかりません。
I don’t know whether or not should I meet that person.

Grammar structure number 9 :

~かもしれない~

Formation :

Vる/Vた+かもしれない
Aい+かもしれない
Aな (remove な)+かもしれない

Explanation :

maybe, might (based on the speaker’s anticipation)

Example and meaning :

1.今回(こんかい)のテストは難(むずか)しいかもしれない。
The next test might be hard.

2. 空(そら)を見(み)ると、雨(あめ)が降(ふ)るかもしれない。
With the sky looking like this, maybe it will rain.

Grammar structure number 10 :

~く/にする

Formation :

A い( remove い)+くする
Aな( remove な)+にする

Explanation :

doing something how

Example and meaning :

1.声(こえ)を大(おお)きくしてください。
Please speak louder.

2.静(しず)かにしてください。
Please be quiet.
