JLPT N3 Grammar lesson 8. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce you to the JLPT N3 Grammar.

Let’s take a look at the next 5 structures.

Structure 36 :

(V/N/Aい/Aな)普+といってもLưu ý:Nだ

Explanation:

Even though saying ~/ that but ~
Used to add a change or a limitation to the expected thing that is mentioned in the former clause of a sentence, assuming in reality, the mentioned thing isn’t that highly expected.

For example:

週末は旅行しました。旅行といっても、近くの温泉に行っただけですが。
Last weekend, I went travelling. Saying travelling but It’s just the hot stream next to my house.

今週は忙しいといっても、先週ほどじゃない。
It’s been a busy week, but still not as busy as last week.

Structure 37 :

Vてごらん(なさい)

Explanation:

Just do V
Used when an older person talk a younger one or a superior to a subordinate. Also used when close friends talk to each other.
Equal to Vなさい

For example:

分からなかったら、先生に聞いてごらん。
If you don’t get it then go ask the teacher.

もう一度やってごらんなさい。
Let’s try again.

Structure 38 :

(Vる/Vない)+ように言う/ように頼む

Explanation:

Just do V/ Don’t do V
An indirect order. Different from an indirect speech as we don’t have to convert the pronoun.

For example:

田中さんに私の部屋にくるように言ってください。
Tell Tanaka to go to my office.

妻に家にはたばこを吸わないように言われます。
I’m banned from smoking in my home by my wife.

Structure 39 :

(V[命令形]/Vるな)+と+言われる/注意される/しかられる/おこられる

Explanation:

Been told/noticed/scolded/mad at to do V (to not do V).

For example:

医者に酒を飲むなと言われた。
I have been told by my doctor not to drink alcohol.

先生にもっと勉強しろと言われた。
I have been told by my teacher to study harder.

父に、もっと早く帰れと注意された。
I have been told by my dad to go home earlier.

Structure 40:

(Vてくれ/Vないでくれ)+と+頼まれる/言われる

Explanation:

Been asked to do V or not to do V for them.

For example:

友達に、田中さんの電話番号を教えてくれと頼まれた。
I was asked to give Tanaka number.

大家に、玄関の前に置かないでくれと言われた。
I was told by Otsuka not to put at the front door.
