JLPT N3 Grammar lesson 6. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce you to the JLPT N3 Grammar.

Let’s take a look at the next 5 structures.

Structure 26 :

Nに+よって/よっては/より/よるN

Explanation:

By, due to (goes along with passive forms of verbs such as:作られる、書かれる、発明られる…)
Because of N.
Thanks to, due to =で
Depends on (the situations ~).

For example:

私は不注意によってコンピューターを壊した。
Watashi wa fuchuui ni yotte konpyuutaa wo kowashita.
I broke my computer by carelessness.

人の好みによって選ぶ。
Hito no konomi ni yotte erabu.
To choose depending on the person’s taste.

この小説は有名な作家によって書かれた。
Kono shousetsu wa yuumeina sakka ni yotte kakareta.
This novel was written by a famous writer.

Structure 27 :

Aい+さ(いい→よさ)
Aな+さ

Explanation:

Degrees, levels, characteristics, feeling ~
To convert an adjective into a noun. The noun is objective and can be measured.

For example:

先生は学生に電車の便利さを教えている。
Sensei wa gakusei ni densha no benrisa wo oshiete iru.
The teacher is teaching students about the convenience of trains.

私は夏の暑さが嫌いです。
Watashi wa natsu no atsusa ga kirai desu.
I hate the heat of summer.

Structure 28 :

Aい+み
Aな+み

Explanation:

The state, characteristics ~

To convert an adjective into a noun. The noun is subjective and abstract. Usually go with feelings.

For example:

彼は甘みのある料理が好きです。
Kare wa amami no aru ryouri ga suki desu.
He likes sweet dishes.

誰にも弱みがある。
Dare ni mo yowami ga aru.
Everyone has weaknesses.

Structure 29 :

Nの+こと
(V/Aい/Aな/N )普+こと
注意:Aだ+な、Nだ+である

Explanation:

A thing, situation, circumstance ~
Used after a clause to show things such a thought or knowledge without mentioning in detail.

For example:

私の誕生日にあったことを書きます。
Watashi no tanjoubi ni atta koto wo kakimasu.
I will write about what happened on my birthday.

Structure 30 :

(V/N/Aい/Aな)普+の
注意:Aだ+な、Nだ+な

Explanation:

Similar to こと, in replacement of こと but more emphasized.

For example:

私は絵を描くのが得意です。
Watashi wa e wo kaku no ga tokui desu.
I’m good at drawing pictures.

桜の花が咲くのを待っている。
Sakura no hana ga saku no wo matte iru.
I’m waiting for the cherry blossoms to bloom.
