Structure 66 :

(N/Aなで/Vて/Aいく)+なんか/なんて/など

Explanation:

Things like ~
Used to show despise when talking about things in general. When talking about yourself, it’s used to show humbleness and modesty.

For example:

彼は私のプレゼントなんかいらない。
Kare wa watashi no purezento nanka iranai.
He doesn’t need my presents.

そんな人なんて気に入らない。
Sonna hito nante ki ni iranai.
I don’t like a person like that. 

生卵など食べないほうがいい。
Namatamago nado tabenai hou ga ii.
You shouldn’t eat raw eggs.

Structure 67 :

(V/N/Aい/Aな)普+おかげで/おかげだ
Note: Nだの、Aだな

Explanation:

Thanks to ~ To show gratitude.

For example:

みんなのおかげで、新しい家を買えた。
Minna no okage de, atarashii ie wo kaeta.
Thanks to everyone, I could buy a new house.

雨が降ったおかげで、洗濯しなくてもいい。
Ame ga futta okage de, sentaku shinakutemo ii.
Thanks to the rain, I don’t have to do the laundry.

Structure 68 :

(V/N/Aい/Aな)普+せいで/せいか/せいだ
Note: Nだの、Aだな

Explanation:

Because, because of ~
Negatively, to blame.

For example:

あなたのせいで、先生に𠮟られた。
Anata no sei de, sensei ni shikarareta.
Because of you, I was scolded by the teacher.

コンピューターを使いすぎたせいか、目が痛い。
Konpyuutaa wo tsukai sugita sei ka, me ga itai.
My eyes hurt, probably because I used the computer too much.

Structure 69 :

(V/N/Aい/Aな)普+かわり
Note: Nだの、Aだな

Explanation:

In stead of ~
To emphasize the replacement.

For example:

レストランに行くかわりに、家で食事をする。
Resutoran ni iku kawari ni, ie de shokuji wo suru.
Instead of going to a restaurant, I will have dinner at home.

昨日、学校に自転車で行くかわりに、バスで行った。
Kinou, gakkou ni jitensha de iku kawari ni, basu de itta.
Yesterday, instead of going to school by bicycle, I went by bus.

Structure 70 :

N1に+かわって/かわりN2

Explanation:

In stead of.
N2 has to do things that N1 should have had done.

For example:

山田先生は学生たちにかわってみんなに謝りました。
Yamada sensei wa gakusei tachi ni kawatte minna ni ayamarimashita.
Mr. Yamada apologized to everyone in place of his students. 

彼にかわり、私はスポーツ大会に参加した。
Kare ni kawari, watashi wa supootsu taikai ni sanka shita.
I participated in the sporting event instead of him.
