JLPT N2 Grammar lesson 22. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N2 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Structure 106:

N/ Vて/それ/あれ + 以来

Explanation:

Ever since, since ~

For example:

卒業以来、友達に会っていない。
Sotsugyou irai, tomodachi ni atte inai.
I haven’t seen my friends since I graduated.

その日以来、彼らは一度も戻ってこない。
Sono hi irai, karera wa ichido mo modotte konai.
They have never returned since that day.

Structure 107:

Vる/ Nである + 以上

Explanation:

When ~

For example:

学生である以上、勉強が何よりも重要です。
Gakusei dearu ijou, benkyou ga nani yori mo juuyou desu.
Being a student, studying is more important than anything.

約束した以上、守らなければならない。
Yakusoku shita ijou, mamoranakereba naranai.
When you have made a promise, you must keep it.

Structure 108:

VるからにはVたからには

Explanation:

Once ~

For example:

日本に来たからには、お寿司を食べたい。
Nihon ni kita karaniwa, osushi wo tabetai.
Since I’m in Japan, I want to eat sushi.

このアパートに住んでいるからには、そんなことをするべきではない。
Kono apaato ni sunde iru karaniwa, sonna koto wo suru beki dewa nai.
Since you are living in this apartment, you shouldn’t do that.

Structure 109:

Vる/Vた/ Nの + 折(に)は

Explanation:

When ~ (talking about future)

For example:

次にお目にかかった折に、おかりしていた本をお返しします。
Tsugi ni ome ni kakatta ori ni, okari shite ita hon wo okaeshi shimasu.
I will return the book I borrowed you next time we meet.

先週日本に行った折には、大学の友達に会った。
Senshuu Nihon ni itta ori ni wa, daigaku no tomodachi ni atta.
I met my college friends when I went to Japan last week.

Structure 110:

Nから 言うと/言えば

Explanation:

From N’s point of view.

For example:

法律から言うと、彼女は何も悪いことをしていない。
Houritsu kara iu to, kanojo wa nani mo warui koto wo shite inai.
In terms of the law, she doesn’t do anything wrong.
