JLPT N2 Grammar lesson 19. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N2 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Structure 91:

Vるの/ Aいの/ Aなの + も/は + もっともだ。

Explanation:

Of course ~

For example:

君が裏切ったのだから、彼女が怒るのももっともだ。
You are a betrayer, of course she will be mad.

あなたがそう言うのはもっともだ。
You talk as it has to be like that.

Structure 92:

Vるも/N (も)/ないも + 同然(どうぜん)だ。

Explanation:

Almost (It’s not the exact same thing, but almost like that).Y như là, gần như là (sự thật không phải, nhưng ở trạng thái gần như thế)

For example:

この車は中古車といっても新品同然だ。
This car, despite being an old car, it’s almost as good as a new car.

彼の財産はないも同然だ。
He has almost no property.

Strucure 93:

V/ A/ N (short form) + だけましだ

Explanation:

At least, luckily.
Used to show a not-so-good situation but at least it’s not the worst.

For example:

君は仕事があるだけましだよ。俺は首になってしまった。
At least you still have a job, I just got fired.

給料が減ったけれど、首にならないだけましだ。
Even though my salary is cut down, but at least didn’t get fired.

僕のアパートは、狭くて高いけれど、便利なだけましだ。
Even though my flat is small and expensive, but at least it’s convenient.

Structure 94:

V/ A/ N (short form) + だけあって/だけに/だけのことはある

Explanation:

Because ….
To emphasize a particular quality, characteristic.

For example:

ここは一流ホテルだけあって快適だった。
Because this is a first class hotel, it’s very comfortable.

このバッグは安いだけにすぐに壊れてしまった。
This bag is broken because it’s cheap.

このいすはじょうぶだ。高かっただけのことはある。
This chair is very stable because it’s expensive.

Structure 95:

A ばかりか/ばかりでなく B も

Explanation:

Not only a but also b.

For example:

あの人は学校の成績がいいばかりかスポーツもできる。
That person doesn’t only have good grades but also plays sports.

このあたりは、空気ばかりでなく水も汚染されている。
This area, not only the air is polluted but the water is also polluted.
