JLPT N2 Grammar lesson 11. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N2 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Structure 51:

Vる/ Vられる + ままに

Explanation:

According to V
Just follow …

For example:

彼女の決めるままにさせる。
Kanojo no kimeru mama ni saseru.
Let her do as she decides.

自分の思うままに行動できない。
Jibun no omou mama ni koudou dekinai.
I can’t act as I want.

Structure 52:

Aい/ Aな/ Vた + ことに

Explanation:

The thing that ~

For example:

残念なことに、彼の電話番号を忘れた。
Zannen na koto ni, kare no denwabangou wo wasureta.
Unfortunately, I forgot his phone number.

嬉しいことに、私は試験に合格した。
Ureshii koto ni, watashi wa shiken ni goukaku shita.
The good news is that I have passed the exam.

Structure 53:

Nの/ Vる/ Aな + あまり

Explanation:

Too ~

For example:

怒りのあまり、彼は部屋を出てしまった。
Okori no amari, kare wa heya wo dete shimatta.
He was so angry that he left the room.

恥ずかしさのあまり、顔が赤くなった。
Hazukashisa no amari, kao ga akaku natta.
My face turned red because of my embarrassment.

心配するあまり、母は寝込んでしまった。
Shinpai suru amari, haha wa nekonde shimatta.
Because of worrying too much, my mom got sick.

Structure 54:

A/ V (short form) +わけだ

Explanation:

The reason is/ It means (to conclude things logically or reason out).

For example:

寒いわけだ。雪が降っている。
Samui wakeda. Yuki ga futte iru.
It’s indeed cold, since it’s snowing.

彼女は日本に5年住んでいたので、日本の文化に詳しいわけだ。
Kanojo wa Nihon ni 5-nen sunde ita node, Nihon no bunka ni kuwashii wakeda.
She lived in Japan for 5 years, so it’s no wonder she knows quite a lot about Japanese culture.

Structure 55:

A/ V (short form) +わけではない/わけでもない

Explanation:

Not really ~
To negate an supposedly obvious fact. Doesn’t mean.

For example:

誰でもこの歌を聞いたわけではない。
Dare demo kono uta wo kiita wakedewanai.
Not everyone heard this song.

私は彼と結婚したいわけではない。
Watashi wa kare to kekkon shitai wakedewanai.
It’s not really that I want to marry him.

テレビはつけてあるが、見ているわけでもない。
Terebi wa tsukete aru ga, mite iru wakedemonai.
The TV is on, but that doesn’t mean I’m watching.
