JLPT N2 Grammar lesson 11. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N2 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Structure 51:

Vる/ Vられる + ままに

Explanation:

According to V
Just follow …

For example:

セールスマンに言われるまま、契約書にサインをしてしまった。
I signed in the contract just like the male salesperson told me.

足の向くままに歩く。
To follow the feet.

Structure 52:

Aい/ Aな/ Vた + ことに

Explanation:

The thing that ~

For example:

驚いたことに、彼女は同じ相手と2回も離婚して再婚しているんです。
What surprises me is, she has divorced twice and remarried the same person.

面白いことに、隣の家も、その隣の家も、うちと同じ名字なのです。
The interesting thing is, the neighbor next to my house, and the neighbor next to them have the same last name with us.

Structure 53:

Nの/ Vる/ Aな + あまり

Explanation:

Too ~

For example:

緊張のあまり、体が震えた。
I’m too nervous that my body is shaking.

心配するあまり、母は寝込んでしまった。
Because of worrying too much, my mom got sick.

Structure 54:

A/ V (short form) +わけだ

Explanation:

The reason is/ It means (to conclude things logically or reason out).

For example:

寒いわけだ。雪が降っている。
It’s indeed cold, since it’s snowing.

定価が1万円で、2割引だから8千円になるわけだ。
The listed price is 10,000 yen, due to a 20% discount, it is now 8,000 yen.

Structure 55:

A/ V (short form) +わけではない/わけでもない

Explanation:

Not really ~
To negate an supposedly obvious fact. Doesn’t mean.

For example:

ほしくないわけではないけれど、お金がないから買えないんです。
It’s not really that I don’t want to, it’s because I don’t have money so I can’t buy it.

テレビはつけてあるが、見ているわけでもない。
The TV is on, but that doesn’t mean I’m watching.
