JLPT N2 Grammar lesson 1. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N2 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Structure 1 :

Aい → Aげ
Aな → Aげ
Vたい → Vたげ
よい → よさげ
ない → なさげ

Explanation:

Seems like, sounds like, similar to ような
Used in writing.

For example:

私は彼女の悲しげな笑顔を忘れられない。
Watashi wa kanojo no kanashigena egao wo wasurerarenai.
I can’t forget her sad smile.

彼は何か言いたげだった。
Kare wa nani ka iitage datta.
He seems like he wants to say something.

彼は怪しげな女の人を連れてきた。
Kare wa ayashigena onna no hito wo tsurete kita.
He came with a suspicious woman.

Structure 2 :

Nがち
V ( minus ます) → Vがち

Explanation:

Usually, often do N

For example:

彼は家に財布を忘れがちだ。
Kare wa ie ni saifu wo wasure gachida.
He usually forgets his wallet at home.

彼女は学校を休みがちです。
Kanojo wa gakkou wo yasumi gachi desu.
She is often absent from school.

Structure 3 :

Nっぽい
Vます → Vっぽい
Aい → Aっぽい

Explanation:

Often, have the propensity that, seems a little.
Usually used negatively, but not always.

For example:

子供っぽい行動をとる。
Kodomoppoi koudou wo toru.
To act like a child.

油っぽい食べ物が嫌いだ。
Aburappoi tabemono ga kiraida.
I hate oily food.

Structure 4 :

V ( minus ます) → V 気味(ぎみ)N気味

Explanation:

Sounds like, have a symptom of (normally has a bad meaning).
Rarely used when speaking.

For example:

私は太り気味です。
Watashi wa futori gimi desu.
I feel like I’m getting fat.

ちょっと疲れ気味だ。
Chotto tsukare gimida.
I’m feeling a bit tired.

Structure 5 :

VれるものならVれるもんなら

Explanation:

If possible (used to show a assumption that is unlikely to happen, modal verbs of possibility).

For example:

できるものなら、彼女に一緒に住みたい。
Dekiru mononara, kanojo ni issho ni sumitai.
If it’s possible, I want to live with her.

海外旅行に行けるものなら、行ってみたい。
Kaigairyokou ni ikeru mononara, itte mitai.
If I can, I want to go on an overseas trip.

やれるもんなら、やってみろ。
Yareru monnara, yatte miro.
If it’s possible, do it.
