Meaning and how to use :

Express “become…/ there is an event in the future that has been decided or agreed, or some results that will arise”.

For example

1. 来月、父は大阪に出張することになる。
Raigetsu, chichi ha oosaka ni shucchou suru koto ni naru.
My father is decided to work in Osaka, next moth.

2. 今日は休日になります。
kyou ha kyuujitsu ni nari masu.
Today will become a day off.

3. 昔は市役所ですが、今は町の図書館になります。
mukashi ha shiyakusho desu ga, ima ha machi no toshokan ni nari masu.
It used to be the distric hall, now it becomes the town’s library.

4. 私は東京に転勤することになる。
watashi ha toukyou ni tenkin suru koto ni naru.
I am assigned to Tokyo.

5. 横浜に引っ越すことになる。
yokohama ni hikkosu koto ni naru.
To be decided to move to Yokohama.

Note: If we use this structure, who can decide is not important, it only focuses on the result arising.
