Meaning and how to use :

1. “In case something that is almost impossible is done, then…”. This structure usually go with verb that describes probability.

For example

もしお金をたくさん稼がれものなら、いろいろなものを買います。
Moshi okane o takusan kasegare mono nara, iroiro na mono o kai masu.
If I earn much money, I will buy lots of things

できるものなら、この会社を辞めて、自分の会社を作ります。
dekiru mono nara, kono kaisha o yame te, jibun no kaisha o tsukuri masu.
I’ll leave job to found a company if I’m able to do.

希望がかなえるものなら、僕はよその地に住みたい。
kibou ga kanaeru mono nara, boku ha yoso no chi ni sumi tai.
If my desire is met, I choose to live in a remote place.

2. discribe a condition “if one event ocur, then… “, the following ussually an unexpected result…”

For example

東大入試験に落ちようものなら、僕は死にそうにがかりする。
toudai nyuu shiken ni ochiyo u mono nara, boku ha shini sou ni gakarisuru.
If I fail the Tokyo university’s entrance exam, I will be disappointed as if I could die

田中さんの物をなくそうものなら、彼は怒ってしまうかもしれない。
tanaka san no mono o nakuso u mono nara, kare ha okotte shimau kamo shire nai.
If we lose mr Tanaka’s item, he could get angry
妹と喧嘩しようものなら、母に叱られますよ。
imouto to kenka shiyo u mono nara, haha ni shikarare masu yo.
If i fight with my sister, i can be scolded by my mother
