Meaning and how to use :

“there is a state, thing that is about to happen then one more state, thing also happen after that”. Usually means “In addition, moreover…”

For example

昨日は気温が下がったうえに大きな風も降るので、とても寒く感じる。
Kinō wa kion ga sagatta ue ni ōkina kaze mo furu node, totemo samuku kanjiru.
Yesterday the temperature got lower, moreover it was windy, so we feel very cold.

今年彼は大会で金メダルをもらった上に結婚もできるなんて本当に幸いな人だ。
kotoshi kare wa taikai de kinmedaru o moratta ue ni kekkon mo dekiru nante hontōni saiwai na hito da.
He got a gold medal at the tournament this year, he also got married. How lucky.

あなたは優しいうえに、親切なので、みんなに好かわれる。
anata wa yasashii ue ni, shinsetsu na node, minna ni kō kawareru.
You are both gentle and kind, so everybody loves you.

山田君はいろいろな文学の本を読む上に、自分の小説を書こうと思って、本当に文学が好きな子ね。
yamada kun wa iroiro na bungaku no hon o yomu ue ni, jibun no shōsetsu o kako u to omotte, hontōni bungaku ga suki na ko ne.
Yamada reads a lot of books of literature, he also intends to write novel, he really likes literature.

弟は俳優である上に、有名な歌手であって、本当に恵まれる才能がたくさんある。
otōto wa haiyū de aru ue ni, yūmei na kashu de atte, hontōni megumareru sainō ga takusan aru.
My younger brother is both actor and famous singer, he is talented.
