Formation :

Vた+ことがある
Vる/Vない+ことがある

Meaning and how to use :

1. Describe you used to do something in the past. It is mostly combined with Verbs, but sometime with Nouns (Combine structure: N+だった+ことがある)
Only used with the combination: Vた+ことがある
(Structure N4)
2. Means ”At some moment…”, ”sometimes, it happens…”. It’s can not be used with things that usually happen.
For example
以前、仕事が忙しくて、私は残業をしなきゃならなくて、12時に家に帰ることもある。
Izen, shigoto ga isogashiku te, watashi ha zangyou o shi nakya nara naku te, ichi ni ji ni ie ni kaeru koto mo aru.
So a while ago, because of busy work, I need to do extra work, sometimes i worked until 12pm.
彼は僕の親友ですが、ときどきけんかすることもある。
kare ha boku no shinyuu desu ga, tokidoki kenka suru koto mo aru.
He is my best friend, but sometimes we also quarrel.
僕は話しかけても、彼女は返事をしないこともある。
boku ha hanashikake te mo, kanojo ha henji o shi nai koto mo aru.
Dù tôi lên tiếng bắt chuyện thì cũng có lúc cô ấy không trả lời.
日本人と話しても、英語を使うことがある。
nipponjin to hanashi te mo, eigo o tsukau koto ga aru.
Although I talk to Japanese, sometimes I use English to do that.
子供が頑強ですが、泣くこともある。
kodomo ga gankyou desu ga, naku koto mo aru.
My son is strong, but sometimes I also cries.

Note : Trợ từ ”が” cũng có thể thay bằng trợ từ ”も”
