Meaning and how to use :

1. Strongly believe in something.

For example

今度はちゃんと練習したので、大学に合格するものとおもう。
Kondo ha chanto renshuu shi ta node, daigaku ni goukaku suru mono to omou.
This time, I tried seriously so I’m sure I will passed university.

僕は彼が来るものとおもう。
boku ha kare ga kuru mono to omou.
I strongly believe that he will come.

2. Describe strong belief of someone in something, but in fact it doesn’t happen.

For example

この本はつまらいないものとおもうが、読んでみると、本当に面白かった。
kono hon ha tsumarai nai mono to omou ga, yon de miru to, hontouni omoshirokatta.
I had thought this book is boring before I tried reading it and found it interesting.

日本語が難しいものとおもうが、勉強したら、簡単だと気をつけました。
nihongo ga muzukashii mono to omou ga, benkyou shi tara, kantan da to ki o tsuke mashi ta.
I thought Japanese is hard, but after I tried I found it easy.

3. ものとおもわれる:Describes speculativeness, is usually used in conversation and solemn text

For example

彼女はぜひ来るものとおもわれる。約束したからね。
kanojo ha zehi kuru mono to omowareru. Yakusoku shi ta kara ne.
She surely come, she promissed

この子はいつもうそを言ったから、さっき話した話は本当ではないものとおもわれる。
kono ko ha itsumo uso o itta kara, sakki hanashi ta hanashi ha hontou de ha nai mono to omowareru.
That boy is always lying, so what he just said mustn’t have been true.

Note: The way of speaking which uses 「もの」is solemn and is usually used in written language.
