Meaning and how to use :

1. Expresses the meaning “It’s not that I don’t/I didn’t..”. Often used with verbs indicating thoughts or senses like 「思う/言う/考える/気がする…」

For example:

彼女の短所を気がしないでもないですが、全部彼女に言ったら傷つけるだろう。
Kanojo no tansho o ki ga shi nai de mo nai desu ga, zenbu kanojo ni ittara kizutsukeru daro u.
It’s not that I didn’t see her weakness but if I told her I would definitely hurt her.

あの可能を考えないでもない。
Ano kanou o kangae nai de mo nai.
It’s not that I didn’t that of that possibility.

彼の苦しさが感じられないでもない。
Kare no kurushi sa ga kanjirare nai de mo nai.
It’s not that I can’t feel his pains.

2. 1. Expresses the meaning “It’s not that I don’t/I didn’t..”. Often used with verbs indicating thoughts or senses. Can also be used under Nもないでもない.

Examples:

歌いたい気がないでもないですが、歌が下手なのです。
Utai tai ki ga nai demo nai desu ga, uta ga heta na no desu.
It’s not that I don’t want to sing but it’s because I suck at singing.

奨学金をもらうつもりがないでもないですが、ちょっと難しいのであきらめた。
Shougaku kin o morau tsumori ga nai demo nai desu ga, chotto muzukashii node akirame ta.
It’s not that I don’t want the scholarship but I quitted because it was too hard.

一人暮らしにするつもりがないでもないですが、最近静かになりたいです。
Hitorigurashi ni suru tsumori ga nai demo nai desu ga, saikin shizuka ni nari tai desu.
It’s not that I want to live alone but recently I just want to have some quiet. .
