Meaning and how to use :

Mean “Even”. Emphasize unwanted/unpredicted level.

For example

元気な彼女でさえ、病気になった。
Genki na kanojo de sae, byouki ni natta.
Even Healthy as she is, she still gets ill.

そんなに豊富な国でさえ戦争が起こった。
sonnani houfu na kuni de sae sensou ga okotta.
War happens in even rich countries

本が好きな人でさえ嫌い作家があります。
hon ga suki na hito de sae kirai sakka ga ari masu.
Even those who love book get an author to hate.

プロな人でさえできないよ。もちろんきみもできないよ。
puro na hito de sae deki nai yo. Mochiron kimi mo deki nai yo.
Even pros can’t do it, ofcourse are also unable to do it.

上手な彼でさえ不合格ですから、とても難しいと思います。
jouzu na kare de sae fu goukaku desu kara, totemo muzukashii to omoi masu.
Even the excellent fails, I think it’s very hard.

Note : でさえ is another form of さえ, stands after a subject.
