Meaning and how to use :

ちゃ/じゃ, a brief, rough form of ”ては/では” and is usually used in spoken language

For example

1. このケーキは弟のが、おいしいので、つい食べちゃった。
Kono kēki wa otōto no ga, oishii node, tsui tabechatta.
This cake is of my younger brother, but because it’s so great, I ate it.

2. ここは危険なので、入っちゃダメだ。
koko wa kiken na node, haiccha dame da.
This area is dangerous, so you mustn’t go in.

3. 良くない内容がある映画を見ちゃいけないよ。
yoku nai naiyō ga aru eiga o mi cha ike nai yo.
You mustn’t watch movie which have bad content.

4. 宿題をするなんて、忘れちゃった。
shukudai o suru nante, wasure chatta.
I forgot to do my home work.

5. この薬は甘いので、飲んじゃった。
kono kusuri wa amai node, nonjatta.
This pill is so sweet, so I took it.

Note: ”ちゃ/じゃ” is only used in spoken language
