Describe the meaning “Bad/ not good/ in some aspect or in doing something”.

Example

食べ物を作るのが下手ですよ。
Tabemono o tsukuru no ga heta desu yo.
I’m bad at cooking.
コンピューターのゲームをするのが下手です。
konpyūtā no gēmu o suru no ga heta desu.
I play games on computer very bad.

彼女は音楽が下手です。
kanojo ha ongaku ga heta desu.
She’s bad at music.

英語がとても下手です。普通の会話でもできないよ。
eigo ga totemo heta desu. Futsuu no kaiwa de mo deki nai yo.
I’m really bad at English. She can’t even speak a simple conversation.

僕に彼は知らない人と話すのが下手だと言います。恥ずかしいかもしれない。
boku ni kare ha shira nai hito to hanasu no ga heta da to ii masu. Hazukashii kamo shire nai.
He told me that he’s bad at speaking to a strange person, but I think he’s just ashamed.

Note: This structure has an equivalent “が苦手だ”. but “が苦手だ” contains the meaning “not really like”, and “が下手です” doesn’t mean that.
