Vる/た + と思う

Meaning and how to use :

Describe the meaning “think that…/ consider that…”. Express the subjective opinion about something.

For example

1. この点の商品はちょっと高いと思います。
Kono ten no shouhin ha chotto takai to omoi masu.
I think the things in this store are expensive.

2. しまった、今日は日曜日ですが、月曜日だと思います。
shimatta, kyou ha nichiyoubi desu ga, getsuyoubi da to omoi masu.
Oops, today is Sunday, yet I think it’s Monday

3. 彼女がこの青い電話を買うと思うが、事実はその赤いのを買った。
kanojo ga kono aoi denwa o kau to omou ga, jijitsu ha sono akai no o katta.
I think she must have bought this blue phone, but she bought the red one.

4. 明日の天気は寒いと思います。
ashita no tenki ha samui to omoi masu.
I think the weather will be cold tomorrow.

5. 歌を歌うことが上手だと思います。
uta o utau koto ga jouzu da to omoi masu.
I think I’m good at singing.

Note: If “思う” and “思います” are at the end of the sentence, the subject is always in the first-person , it’s “思っています” if we want to use 3rd person
